My Anime Watching List Spring 2011 Posted: 03 Apr 2011 11:12 AM PDT Hello, this is Wiguan here. So the spring have arrive. How are you guys doing? A lot of things happened recently. Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan especially have bring impact and affected the anime production. A lot of people are losing their loves one during the natural disaster. Let’s pray and cheer them in our prayer. We can’t do a lot but perhaps a small donation will do. So let’s see what am I watching for the rest of this season, and what I plan to watch. I might drop them if the first episode does not impress me. So here’s the simple list.
So there are 17 anime series in my watching list. I am wondering how am I gonna watch all of them? So any recommendation beside these anime series that I’ve make? I’ll start watching the episode 1 of any available anime series starting from today and I’m gonna make an episodic anime review for this season. So when along the way I decide to drop it, then it will be dropped. How about you guys? Nothing in your watching list? |
[1st Impression] Dog Days: Episode 1 Posted: 03 Apr 2011 09:52 AM PDT Well, this the first series I had a chance to look at for Spring 2011. How did I like it? Find out if you dare.
Impression First thing that came to mind from reading the synopsis was more or less Dogs vs Cats right off the bat. You can clearly see the whole thing go down in the mysterious prologue scenes. Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois, leader of the Cat army and Millhiore F. Biscotti, leader of the Dog army rallying there respective troops for war. Then pan to the normal life of protagonist, Shinku Izumi and his childhood friend, Rebecca Anderson know as Becky. As you can see the main protagonist is in love with sports…mainly testing his own limits in gymnastics of sorts.
Upon trying to leave for an athletic meet, he gets dragged to a mysterious world by a dog with a dagger. Been there done that plot already, but I reserved judgement.
And meeting with the princess before the war….more like war games. By the way, no one is seriously hurt, dies (yet), get maimed, or otherwise. You see the cats are already revert back to little cats. Did I mention the peanut gallery? The whole thing is nuts already! A few warriors on the Dogs side kicking butt and taking names. Can’t see how they lost so many battles ….
However, no matter how skilled they are, they are in need of a hero to help them win battles. Hime-sama has a announcement to make. Now playing for the Under Dogs…..*drumroll* Shinku Izumi along with his epic entrance. Let’s see how well he does fighting in the next episode….
Final Thoughts I’m going to stick to watching it for now. Was I originally going to watch this? Sort of. The action and movement wasn’t too slow as I thought it would be and more quicker than expected. I honestly hope this doesn’t turn into another high quality serious with nothing to offer. So far, the art and animation is gorgeous and really flexing all it has right out the gate. I have hope for this anime, just hope those hopes aren’t going to come crashing down. See what I did there? By the way the opening theme is SCARLET KNIGHT by Nana Mizuki and PRESENTER by Yui Horie for the ending theme; which are two awesome pieces. NOTE: For any One-precinct writer planning to chronicle this feel free. I just did the first impression on my site and didn’t see it up yet here… ~Happy Watching, Minna!~ Syndicated & Rewritten from: SUTORAIKUanime |
[Review] Hidamari Sketch: Season 1 Posted: 03 Apr 2011 09:12 AM PDT Art, friendship, and just pure fun. A review of the first season of Hidamari Sketch. Summary Hidamari Sketch centers around a young girl named Yuno who finally is able to get accepted into Yamabuki Art High School, which she has longed for. To attend the school, Yuno moves and starts to live in a small apartment building named the Hidamari Apartments (ひだまり荘 Hidamari-sō?) located across the street from the school. Once there, she quickly becomes friends with three other occupants at the apartments, including her classmate Miyako and two second-year students: Hiro and Sae. The events of the characters’ everyday lives are shown as they attend the school together and get to know each other better.
Review Story/Plot. Hidamari Sketch basically follows the life of Yuno and her entrance to Yamabuki Art High School. Along with her friends: the blonde and energetic Miyako, diet conscience upperclassmen Hiro, and the mature, meganekko upperclassmen Sae; their daily lives of fun and living life begins. The best thing about every slice-of-life genre and Hidamari itself is the laid backstory telling style. Even though there isn’t any real plot to follow, it is still enjoyable and funny as Yuno and friends interact with the world around them and the strange yet interesting people in it. If you are looking for a story with humor and not too much to rack your brain with this a good anime to start with. Did I mention the strong-arm studio SHAFT is behind this project?
Characters/Devices. Other than the main characters there other interesting ones and I do mean interesting. If you don’t find the buxom, ditzy, and cosplay manic homeroom teacher, Yoshinoya interesting you clearly need a reality check. Not to forget the tooth chattering principle, Hanikama as well as a slew of others. Both design and personality wise, all the secondary characters add more life to an already vibrant series. All the characters play an equal role and part in the anime, so there are no overarching figures that outweigh or get more screen time than others.
Aesthetics, Audio, & Other. If SHAFT studio is involved in any project you know things are going to be lavish most of the time and the same rule applies here. This would be a precursor of their early work, but everything you know about SHAFT art wise is here. Everything from color and lighting play, minuet background shifts, and a few other things. It is slightly different beast being older, however the framework is there. Both art and animation blend and mesh together perfectly. The audio is also nice. Everything from voice actors to the background music is enjoyable and shouldn’t prove to be a teeth grinder for many fans. There are times were you do want to sigh at some of the same motifs used over and over, but for 12 episodes+ 2 specials you can handle it. There is no heavy symbolism nor fragmented idealism in a title like this, so no need to over think or analyze things. Just a “lay back, relax, and enjoy” philosophy for this title and nothing more. Personal Enjoyment. I found myself smiling and sometimes laughing out loud with this title. There are some little quirks about the characters or something they do that make you want to laugh or simply tilt your head and rest your chin in your hand with delight and wonder. Never once did I groan or moan over anything that I didn’t like (such as SHAFT weird sense of background usage with items) however a simple face twist with questioning did appear but nothing to hate or be disgruntle over. In one word to describe my feelings: charmed. Overall. If you have the time and energy or simply want another slice-of-life title with something to offer, Hidamari Sketch will be up your alley. Charming characters, unique art and animation, as well as a certain untouchable quality you can not seem to describe it should be nothing less than dream-like. It also has a reaching saga with two more seasons ready for you to fully enjoy and give you a better look into the world (365 is a reboot with a little more information). I fully recommend Hidamari Sketch as an title you shouldn’t miss out on, but not much of a problem if you do. More fun for the rest of us.
Story: B Characters: A Art/Audio: B Enjoyment:B Final Verdict: Good

Posted: 03 Apr 2011 03:02 AM PDT This post might not safe for works or for kids. Open with your own risk. Lately I was given a brand new Ipod Touch 4. So I name it as Luka Megurins, since it is an Ipod, sing a song got it? My first Ipod touch then automatically become Hatsune Miku. Even though Luka is the third vocaloid, I can’t help my self not to skip and named her for my second Ipod touch. So I am browsing the internet to find some pictures which then I can turn into a skin for the new Ipod touch. Here’s are my findings. They are collected from various sources and I don’t remember all of them. If you happen to own one of the images, please do tell, they are all very nice.

Posted: 03 Apr 2011 02:53 AM PDT Just some random photos I have taken when Yuu is around. Before I realized, she is everywhere I am. This is how Yuu first come into the house. She just keep smiling even though she do not have any idea where she is and who is that stranger looking at her. (Me)
Some medium close up photo of Yuu I took randomly.
A mini jamming session me and my band boys held in my office. It was Saturday and we’re free to do anything we want in the office. Yay! But I didn’t expect that my boss come to office that day and he was astonished to see Yuu and he asked, “Who’s that girl?” A girl huh?
Comparing the size of Yuu with my sister’s doll. She’s so small and cute.
Yuu’s leg happen to be longer on one leg. So I attempt to fix her and gained this new pose ability.
Differently when playing with robots, Gundam or mecha, our artistic side tends to grow when we’re with this little cute Dollfie Dream doll. We learn how to take care of her, especially that wig is is very easy to go wrong and all the staining problems. So have you own a Dollfie too? And what does she bring into your life?
